Naimish Patel, M.D. has served as Chief Medical Officer at CRISPR Therapeutics since May 2024, where he oversees a clinical portfolio spanning in vivo gene editing, allogeneic cell therapy, and RNA-based therapeutics. Prior to CRISPR, Naimish was at Sanofi, most recently as Global Development Therapeutic Area Head of Immunology and Inflammation. Before that role, he was Global Program Head for Dupilumab, leading multiple waves of indication expansion including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and eosinophilic esophagitis. During his time at Sanofi, Naimish led development of an industryleading pipeline across respiratory, dermatology, gastroenterology, and rheumatology, and oversaw key business development and M&A activity during a period of rapid pipeline expansion. He is a pulmonary and critical care physician with an extensive background in translational medicine and clinical trials.

Naimish received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and an M.D. from McGill University. He completed his internal medicine training at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital and his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Harvard Medical School. After completing his fellowship, he joined the faculty at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he led an NIH-funded laboratory in translational immunology focused on the innate defense functions of the lung. Earlier in his career, he held positions in clinical development and discovery project leadership at AstraZeneca and Vertex Pharmaceuticals.
